Pak presidential election on Sept 6
August 22nd, 2008, Islamabad  (NDTV)
According to reports coming in Pakistan, it has been decided that the presidential elections will be held on September 6 and nomination papers will be filed from August 26.

Earlier, top leaders of the ruling coalition met in Islamabad to take a final decision on the presidency and reinstating the Supreme Court judges sacked by President Musharraf.

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) have backed PPP chief Asif Ali Zardari for the post.

However, coalition partner Nawaz Sharif"s Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has so far remained non-committal on Zardari and said a decision on the next President will be taken in Friday"s meeting.

The PML-N has already threatened to pull out of the coalition if the sacked judges are not reinstated by Friday.
