August 22nd, 2008, Vienna (NDTV) The 45 countries of the Nuclear Suppliers Group will meet for the final day on Friday in Vienna to discuss the Indo-US nuclear deal.
They have to decide if India should get the go ahead ending over 30 years of nuclear isolation.
While many countries have come out in India"s support, there are some who are pushing for amendments to the draft prepared by America.
NDTV has learnt that some countries have asked for stronger language in the draft to reflect the importance of the NPT.
One of the members, who has concerns on non-proliferation is Norway and in a statement to NDTV, the Norwegian government has said, "The meeting was very constructive and in line with our intentions. We are working towards a consensus and also meeting our non-proliferation objectives. Norway"s concerns are not India specific but regarding the non-proliferation issues and the NPT regime. We fully understand India"s need for energy."
